Dedicated Canine Physical Therapy Services

Leah Avery, DPT, CCRP

I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Evansville and a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I earned both degrees during my time in school, driven by a belief that dogs deserve expert care just as much as humans do. While preparing for my boards exam, I pursued my canine rehab certification because I knew how transformative physical therapy could be for animals—and I was right.

My 13-year-old senior dog, Marley, is living proof. When I adopted her, she’d been abused and poorly cared for. Through dedicated rehab, including aquatic therapy, nutritional changes, and laser treatments, her quality of life has improved drastically. Her turnaround inspired me to keep treating humans while opening my practice to dogs, offering the Fox Valley’s only canine aquatic physical therapy . While aging is inevitable, you can not only improve your dogs quality of life but add years on.

For me, dogs aren’t just pets; they’re family members who deserve the same care and attention we give ourselves. That’s why I’ve dedicated my practice to canine physical therapy, blending science, compassion, and a love for dogs to help them thrive at every age.

I still work with human patients, but expanding into canine care feels like a calling. Dogs are just as important as we are, and with no other local options for canine aquatic therapy, I’m here to fill that gap. Whether your dog is recovering from injury, managing age-related challenges, or simply needing a boost like Marley did, I combine my clinical expertise with a love for animals to help them thrive.

Dogs are family, not just pets, and I’m passionate about blending my skills to help both two-legged and four-legged patients. Whether your pup needs recovery support or a boost like Marley got, I’m here with clinical expertise and a heart for animals, because they’re just as important.
